Instructor and facilitator, Weight Watchers (WW)

On May 14, 2001, I started the Points Program with Weight Watchers (WW) with a big waistline and little hope. Though I’ve had my ups and downs, nothing for me can beat looking and feeling better.

At my highest weight (between ages of 23 – 28) my health was failing. I was taking a large dosage of blood pressure medicine and was diagnosed with sleep apnea. It was so frustrating to breath through a C-pap mask at night to regulate a sleeping disorder. I felt so defeated. One of the first things I learned on WW was what my boundaries are with food (i.e. you get this many points and can spend them however you want). After a year on the plan, I accomplished my goals. Today I take no blood pressure medicine and no longer need the mask to sleep at night.

In addition, it’s great interacting with others, and having people comment about my weightloss has boosted my self esteem. My interaction with all people has improved because I feel like people now see the real me. Another way to look at it too is that BECAUSE I think people see me in a positive way, I interact better with others.

My journey continues today as a WW Wellness Coach.
